Σχεδόν ένα χρόνο μετά τη κυκλοφορία του ντεμπούτου δίσκου τους “The Mountain Daylight Time” (2006, Division Records), οι Ελβετοί KEHLVIN επισκέπτονται για πρώτη φορά τη χώρα μας.
Οι αναφορές τους σε αργό progressive post-hardcore είναι σαφέστατα επηρεασμένες από τους Cult Of Luna, Isis, Neurosis, Mogwai και Pelican.
Συμπληρώνοντας οκτώ χρόνια ύπαρξης και έχοντας μοιραστεί τη σκηνή με μπάντες όπως οι Red Sparowes, Burst, Mono, Unsane, Sonograph και Honey For Petzi, έχουν αναγνωριστεί από κοινό και κριτικούς ως άξιοι συνεχιστές της Ελβετικής σκηνής.
Η μουσική των KEHLVIN είναι ένα συνονθύλευμα αληθινών συγκινήσεων με ατμοσφαιρικές στιγμές και εκρηκτικά ξεσπάσματα. Με χαρακτηριστικά τους την ανεξάντλητη ενέργεια πάνω στη σκηνή και την άψογη απόδοση, καταφέρνουν να προσφέρουν δυνατές εμφανίσεις.
Στις 16 Νοεμβρίου, υπόσχονται να μας κάνουν να νιώσουμε πολλά περισσότερα από όσα φανταζόμαστε!

Έχοντας αποδείξει περίτρανα την αξία τους πάνω στη σκηνή -πλάι σε ονόματα όπως Sunn O))), Burst, Black Cobra, Bluch, Paradise Lost και Electric Wizard- έρχονται να μας καθηλώσουν και πάλι με το ιδιόμορφο hardcore/black-death metal/sludge ύφος τους. Δεν είναι τυχαίο που το κοινό τους αυξάνεται με γεωμετρική πρόοδο σε κάθε κίνηση τους είτε συναυλιακή, είτε δισκογραφική.

Ψυχεδελικό doom όπως επιβάλλεται να παίζεται! Trippy αναφορές σε μπάντες όπως οι Sleep, Yob, Electric Wizard, Acrimony και Neurosis, από ένα instrumental τρίο που αν και μετράει λιγότερο από ένα χρόνο ύπαρξης, έχει καταφέρει να τραβήξει τη προσοχή των οπαδών της σκηνής.

vinyl lust
so … I was wrong. They have been two weeks from the first post and I didn’t manage to write anything, essential or not.
The truth is I barely had any time for this. A lot of work, a lot of to-do’s, a lot of rehearsing with B.O.S. for an upcoming gig (there will be an announcement right after this post), much boredom as well… and rain ofcourse (even it has nothing to do with time, I had to mention it)!
oh! stop that bullshit! what’s up with the title?!
alright! “Vinyl Lust”.
Yeah, it sounds like the wellknown record store here in Athens, but it has nothing to do with the title. It has to do with me and my urge to spend a big amount of my salary on vinyl lps. Not weird you’ll think, but it’s a 180º turn from what I was thinking about vinyls some months ago. I preferred cds to records for various reasons: they’re much cheaper (being careful of all those fucking *music merchants* ofcourse), they’re compact indeed, they are easier to find and lastly the sound quality is supposed to be better. Well, I’ll be back to that last one later (*).
As I said, my beliefs turned to the opposite… that’s when I decided to buy myself a turntable… at last! And that was when I rediscovered the magic of the stylus crossing the spiral and the warmth of the sound (*) that is produced… after a long time. I haven’t bought the turntable yet but I surely have gathered some great vinyls to play when the time comes. And they are, oh, so fucking beautiful as well:

Coffee & cigarettes.
Despite the movie (which, yeah!, is really great) this little phrase captures my favorite moments (or some of them at least) in life. All kinds of feelings have been connected from time to time with these kinda-routine movements.
Most of my very best, and very worse as well, moments ever were marked by this -unhealthy the truth is- habbit of ours: serious or crazy talks, new beginnings and grand endings, great or nonsense works, calm or pressure, love & hate, silent thinkings or aloud, enjoying great music… there’s always a hot cup & a pack of luckiez as I can remember. (ok, pre-15 years old period doesn’t count!)
So… during one more Coffee & cigarettes - session (yeh, late at night!), this thought/design/art/music/live-announcing/whatever-else blog comes to life.
Promise there will be many more (especially now at start) posts - with my shitty english =)
